Why Can’t I Connect to the Network?
Troubleshoot connection errors using the following solutions:

  • Ensure your Airplane Mode is turned off (the mobile network is unavailable with Airplane Mode turned on). If Airplane Mode is on, you will see a small airplane icon in the top right corner of your screen. To turn it off, access your device Settings by swiping down from the top of the home screen or selecting the Settings icon (gear) in your device menu. Switch airplane mode to OFF.
  • Ensure that the connection to the wireless network is turned on. Swipe down from the top of the home screen or select the Settings icon in your main menu. Select Networks and Connections > Mobile Network and ensure that both Mobile Network and Data Services are set to ON. Mobile Network Mode should be set to 4G & 3G & 2G, and Network Selection Mode should be set to Automatic.
  • Ensure that your device is connected to your wireless service provider’s network. If you recently changed wireless networks manually, you will need to change it back to your service provider’s wireless network.


How Can I Switch Wireless Networks Manually?

When you travel, your device will automatically choose an appropriate wireless network. If you need to change wireless networks manually, please follow the steps below:

  1. Access the Settings for your device: swipe down from the top of the home screen, or select the Settings icon (gear) in the main menu
  2. Select Network Connections > Mobile Network
  3. Set the Mobile Network switch to ON
  4. Set Data Services While Roaming to ON
  5. Set Network Selection Mode to 4G & 3G &2G
  6. Set the Network Selection Mode to Manual
  7. Choose a network from the available list


Why Can’t I Send or Receive Messages?

Ensure you have Data Connectivity. Look for the Blackberry icon (4 dots) at the top right of your screen between 4G/3G/E/2G and the signal bars. If the icon does not appear, then you need to restore Data Connectivity using the following steps:

  1. Access the Settings for your device: swipe down from the top of the home screen, or select the Settings icon (gear) in the main menu
  2. Set Airplane Mode to ON
  3. Wait 20 seconds
  4. Set Airplane Mode to OFF


What Do the Icons in the Top Right Corner of My Screen Mean?

Signal strength: the number of solid bars displayed represents the strength of the mobile network signal to your device
Network type: identifies the type of network your device is currently connected to. Speed of network types range from 4G (fastest) descending to E (slowest)
Limited network functionality: identifies the type of network your device is currently connected to, but the device does not have Data Connectivity
No mobile network coverage: you are not currently connected to a network
Roaming: indicates you are roaming outside of your local coverage area

Data Connectivity: indicates you are connected to the Blackberry data network
Wi-Fi: indicates you are connected to Wi-Fi. The number of solid lines represents the Wi-Fi signal strength
Airplane Mode: indicates that Airplane Mode is currently turned ON. All network and Wi-Fi connections are disabled when Airplane Mode is on

What Do I Do if My Device is Running Slower Than Usual or Will Not Respond?

Restarting the device may resolve unusual performance issues.

  1. Press and hold the Power/Lock key on the top of your device until the restart icon displays
  2. Click the icon to restart your device


How Do I Change My Password?

  1. Access the Settings for your device: swipe down from the top of the home screen, or select the Settings icon (gear) in the main menu
  2. Select Security and Privacy > Device Password > Change Password


How Do I Change My Typing Language?

  1. Access the Settings for your device: swipe down from the top of the home screen, or select the Settings icon (gear) in the main menu
  2. Select Language and Input
  3. Select Input Languages > Add/Remove Languages (globe icon)
  4. Choose the languages that you want to enable/disable


How Do I Change Language While Typing?

If you have more than one input language enabled, you can choose a different language as you type.

  1. Touch the text field
  2. Press the following: [show two buttons]
  3. Choose the language you want to use

  3. Use the slider to adjust the brightness


How Do I Minimize and Close the App?

  • To minimize the app: swipe up from the bottom of the screen and the app will display as Active Frame on the home screen.
  • To close the app: touch the X button in the bottom right corner of the app


How Do I Return to the Home Screen?

  • Look for the Back button [show button] within the app you are using to return to the previous screen
  • Or, minimize your current app by swiping upwards from the bottom of the screen


How Do I Change App Settings?

  • To change settings in the active app, swipe down from the top of the screen and select the Settings icon (gear), or select Settings from the device menu
  • To access additional options in the app, touch the following: [icon]


How Do I Edit or Move Text Without a Trackpad or Trackball?

To select text:

  1. Touch and hold any word in your text until a blue highlight appears
  2. Drag the blue circular handles to adjust your selection

To copy, paste or move text:

  1. Select the text as indicated above
  2. Remove your finger from the screen and a menu containing editing options will appear
  3. Choose the option you would like to use

To move the cursor:

  1. Touch the screen to reveal the cursor
  2. Drag the circle to move the cursor to another location, or tap the top, bottom, left or right of the circle to move it one character at a time


How Can I Make My Battery Last Longer?

You can preserve battery life by employing a few very simple energy saving techniques:

  • Dim the screen (Settings > Display)
  • Use a dark wallpaper (Settings > Display)
  • Adjust the screen lock timeout (Settings > Display)
  • Set your device to lock automatically when placed in its case or holster (Settings > Security and Privacy > Device Password > Lock Device When Holstered)


How Do I Update My Device Software?

Before performing an update, ensure you have a backup of your device saved to your computer. It is good practice to regularly perform backups as a safeguard against loss, theft of corruption of your device.

  1. Access the Settings for your device: swipe down from the top of the home screen, or select the Settings icon (gear) in the main menu
  2. Select Software Updates
  3. Select Check for Updates

Note: Software updates may not be available depending on your region and wireless service provider

How Do I Lock My Device?

Manually:

  2. Select Security and Privacy > Device Password > Lock Device After

Automatically lock when placed in a Blackberry case:

How Do I Prevent My Device From Locking While I Am Using an App?

You may want to allow active apps to override your lock settings like when you are watching a movie, for example. Here’s how:

  1. Access the Settings for your device: swipe down from the top of the home screen, or select the Settings icon (gear) in the main menu
  2. Select Security and Privacy > Device Password > Allow Apps to Extend Password Lock Time

How Do I Change My Ring Tone, Sounds and Alerts?

  1. Access the Settings for your device: swipe down from the top of the home screen, or select the Settings icon (gear) in the main menu
  2. Select Notifications
